Elegantly choreographed action, spot-on timing, and powerful themes, not to mention the music and the costumes, made Bonanza one of the two most influential westerns of all time. Only Gunsmoke out-drew it in episodes. Boy, it was a treat to get to stay up late on Sunday evenings and watch the most cutting-edge television of the era. Heck, they even crossed Eons when appearing in an episode of The Flintstones.
