The Foundational Principle of Orthodoxy | SERMON

It is entirely biblical to look to the beliefs of God's saints throughout history for guidance and verification of our doctrine.

Not to be confused with Roman Catholicism's principle of tradition (which elevates man's words as equal to or higher than God's), the principle of orthodoxy allows us to be guided by doctrinal interpretations held throughout history as a secondary confirmation of truth.
We must not be carried about with every wind of doctrine, but firmly grounded on the Bible and assured by agreement with the witness of godly men in ages past. Orthodoxy aligns our doctrine with the compass of God's Word and the landmarks left by great men of the faith.
