The feline family, known as Felidae, is parted between greater felines who can thunder and more modest felines who murmur. The thundering felines are important for the sub-family called Pantherinae, and the murmuring felines are in the sub-family Felinae. Indeed, just four types of felines can really thunder. These are lions, tigers, panthers, and pumas.
