The following information regarding Chinese Medicine is intended to provide a broad overview of traditional philosophies; it cannot replace the discerning eye of a fully-trained doctor.

Music Description

Recorded using tones and rhythms associated with the Spleen and Stomach. In Chinese Medicine, the stomach is responsible for receiving nutrition and keeping food moving down; the spleen is responsible for transforming nutrition into refined energy (i.e. thoughts and intentions) and sending it to the proper places.

Both the Stomach and Spleen are associated with the Earth Element, whose associated emotion is worry (vs. clear thinking). Associated color with earth is Yellow, Direction is Center, Season is Late Summer (Pre-Harvest), Note is C (Spleen is F, Stomach is E). When the spleen dysfunctions, water and food fail to transform, there is diahrrea, loose stool, fatigue (due to untransformed food), and/or possible oedema and cold. When stomach dysfunctions, food fails to stay down, there is nausea and possible vomiting, constipation and/or potentially dry throat if stomach fluids are depleted.

Optimal Spleen and Stomach Health equates to a healthy appetite for all of the flavors of life - both spiritually and physically oriented. Appetite is healthy but moderated, following rhythms and routines. What is needed, comes in and transforms easily. What is not is separated and expelled as well-formed waste.

Use this music as a general tonic for these organs, up to three times/day. For maximum effect, play in the background during gentle body-focused exercise.

Spleen-stomach tonics - left side stretching, healing sound "hoooooo", gentle exercise esp. reflective walking, carrots, beef, very small amounts of aromatic herbs such as dried orange peel (e.g. size of a small nail broken into chunks).
