The right to bear arms is clearly stated in the US Constitution's 2nd Amendment. In recent years, politicians on the Left have stopped at nothing to try and curtail Americans' rights to gun ownership, much like what happened in Britain.. Still, infringements on the right to self-defense have been going on by powerful rulers throughout history. Steve Halbrook of the Independent Institute and author of the book, A Right to Bear Arms, talks with London Center for Policy Research Sr. Fellow LTC (Ret, British Army) Tim Wilson about the historic perspective to defensive weapons ownership versus modern efforts to marginalize the 2nd Amendment.

LTC Wilson and Halbrook discuss how the US anti-gun politicians will grasp at proverbial straws to circumvent the Constitutional Right to bear arms, including using the Misdeal 1328 Statute of Northampton as a precedent for their claims. They also look at how gun control has affected crime activity in the UK as well as several states and municipalities in the US.
