Ephesus - Conduct in God's Household

Conduct in the household of God is spelled out clearly in the epistles of the new testament. They do require a bit of interpretation because we live in a very different society than 60 AD. but the principles, concerns and warnings remain the same.Show more

In this message we'll address some additional matters of conduct within the household of God as found in the last three chapters of 1 Timothy.

The over-arching concern is about false teaching and ideas that were affecting the conduct of the members of the church in Ephesus. Specifically we are introduced to controversies over:
1. Food and drink
2. Sex & marriage

We are reminded that the main purpose of teaching within the church was to provide useful help in how to live a Godly life. The structural model offered is that of the human family.

Money matters are also discussed:
1. how should financial assistance be regulated (and how bad doctrine was resulting in some bad policies in this area)
2. problems related to maintaining a paid ministry

The letter to Timothy concludes with a warning about the love of money and greed.
