Raga-raga swarms after a rainy night
Welcome to Mulan's Entertainment!
Raga-raga is a local name for termite swarms which means that a termite colony nearby is active. They usually appear in periods of humidity. Seeing these massive flying termites can be quite horrifying to some people. However, there are easy ways to get rid of them. Like most nocturnal insects, the pests will be drawn to light sources around the house such as lamps. To get rid of them, turn off the lights.
Gamu-gamo is another name for flying termites which translates to “moth”. This term can be found in the Story of Moth (Kwento ng Gamu-gamo) that was always read by the mother of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine National Hero, to him as a child. It simply teaches about the obedience of children to parents. For a brief overview of the story, the baby moth was warned by the mother moth not to fly too close to the flame of the lamp but the baby moth ignored it so he was burned then died. A tragic story but a very important lesson in history especially for Filipinos because they highly respect the orders of the elders.
