Brockway, PA — The mission of Jamie's Dream Team started back in 2005, the founder having a story that connects with each individual they impact.

"I was born with V.A.T.E.R syndrome. (V.A.R.T syndrome). I'm 33 years old and I've had over 45 major operations since birth and I've been very sick and wanted to help others with illnesses," said Jamie Ward, Founder & Executive Director of Jamie's Dream Team.

That desire to help others with illnesses made it's way to 10-year-old Paige Doane in Brockway.

Paige has been battling with neurofibromatosis since she was 3 months old, then diagnosed with sarcoma in December of 2019.

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on nerve tissue.

Her dream was to go to the Give The Kids the World resort in Orlando Florida.

"They were excited just to be able to get away for a while and forget the hospitals, the doctor's appointments, the surgeries and the treatments. They just needed some time to get away," said Kim Turner, Dream Coordinator for Jamie's Dream Team.

Kim Turner said they also coordinated a "Welcome Home" parade with the Brockway Area School District.

Over 300 spectators were there to welcome Paige home from Florida.

"Family and friends of hers and so forth, all the students showed up, Girl Scout Troops, it was unbelievable," said Ward.

Paige is one of 10,000 dreams that Jamie's Dream Team has granted.

Her mom Shelly Doane said, "We are extremely grateful to Jamie's Dream Team and Brockway. They have been so supportive through everything."

Purpose: The purpose of Jamie’s Dream Team is to provide assistance and/or make distributions to or on behalf of qualifying individuals who are handicapped, disabled, terminally ill, severely injured or suffering from a serious medical condition, disease, or trauma.
