In the late 1970s, the United States saw a period of stagnant growth and inflation—or stagflation. Many experts have shared just how tough it was for the American people back then. Official inflation hit 12 percent at one point. So how similar is today to back then? How bad could it get?

NTD asked veteran economist Joe Carson, who spent 16 years as the chief economist at investment firm Alliance Bernstein, if this feels like the beginning of stagflation.
