The Golden State is often jokingly referred to as the "People's Republic of California." This, of course, is a reference to the communist-controlled, PRC- the People's Republic of China.

However, beyond being a silly joke, we actually gain considerable insight into the trajectory of the world and geopolitics by analyzing the two places. In fact, President Biden has intimated that he sees California as a model for the United States. Consequently, we can be confident that what happens in California will impact the US vis-à-vis China and thus will alter the direction of our world.
