DIY: Wooden Cake Knife

Hey Everyone!

Okay, this was 1000% FUN to make! Didn't take long at all and was pretty simple to do, if you have a scroll saw and a belt sander that is. LOTS of sanding...LOTS!

So many ideas popped in my head while I was doing all that sanding, Since I had a lot of time to think LOL! This would be perfect to give a gift to that favorite cook in your life or made for a wedding gift to slice the cake. You can carve a message into the "blade" or into the handle. You can cut this into many different designs and styles. So many possibilities for this project.

This was not an expensive project either. I used Red Oak and Poplar hobby boards I picked up at Lowes (approx. $10 total ). You can use what ever type of wood you want if you have access to it. I've seen cake knifes built out of Walnut, which is a really pretty grain. but since I don't have access to pretty woods, I worked with what I had and it turned out amazing!

I hope you enjoyed this video. Let me know what you think in the comments below. I may do another version of this for you in a letter video, so stay tuned for that. If any of my local peeps is interested in me making one for you, message me and I will be happy to make something special for you. And to all of you out there, thank you so much for watching, thank you for your support and as always, Happy Building!
