Where the gold rush began Central City Colorado
As the video starts you will see and hear the sounds of the new Levit Street Market in the gulch Central City Colorado. Open Sundays. I filmed from Bates Hill just above the Becker Bates Mine which appears as I spin past the old miners cabin. Previously the old Mayor William C Russell had the cabin moved here when he owned the property. The cabin was located in Miners Gulch. I am basically standing on the Bates Lode which was the second discovery in the district in May of 1859 by John H Gregory. Gregory made the first discovery about 1,000 feet from here just 13 days prior. The area soon filled with an estimated 30,000 men seeking fortune. Now home to many casinos, art and theater. Approximately 40 miles from Denver in the foothills. Please visit my other videos. Please share, like and subscribe.
