"Mistletoe Remembered" A Christmas Poem
"Mistletoe Remembered" reflects a holiday in which many of the personal links to the past have begun to wane. Parents, relatives, and friends from so many past Christmases; now only memories. Your parents gone and your children grown, much of the magic and mystery has faded. While the love and joy of the holiday remain, there is now a tinge of sadness in recalling Christmases from long ago. A younger time when the experience of Christmas seemed more immediate and hopeful, and the rare exhilaration of "believing" was as natural as breathing, along with the recognition that all things were possible, still beating in your heart. It is a recognition and appreciation for the occasional "blue" Christmas we sometimes experience as part of the holiday's heritage and legacy.
