To get to Morretes by car, the best way is via Estrada da Graciosa. There are 33 kilometers of descent from the Serra do Mar, many curves, cobblestones and enchanting panoramic landscapes full of flowering slopes, Atlantic forest, peaks and waterfalls. The PR 410 road, inaugurated in 1873, is so beautiful and dotted with lookouts so that tourists can enjoy the view and take pictures. It's worth taking advantage of the stops to drink coconut water, taste banana candies and the region's honey. The Graciosa road, together with the cities of Morretes, is part of the circuit of cities and historical places in the State of Paraná.
Arriving in Morretes, discover the many attractions of the historic city, founded by the Jesuits in 1733, on the shores of the bay of Paranaguá. In the center, the highlights are the well-preserved historic buildings that now house museums and cultural spaces. The local City Hall is located in the building of the former factory founded by Francesco Matarazzo, a successful businessman, owner of last century industries.
Be sure to try the typical dish of the region, the barreado. The delicacy is prepared in a clay pot and made with pieces of meat and manioc flour. Cooking takes between three and 12 hours and the mouth-watering dish is served with plantains and oranges.
Antonina is situated 90 km from Curitiba, and 50 km from Paranaguá. Historic city whose first traces of occupation were found in the sambaquis, archaeological sites where the primitive peoples of the region lived. Later Carijós Indians inhabited the site and the first settlers date from 1648 and 1654. In addition to the extraordinary natural beauty of the landscape, Antonina has in its cobblestones and ruins, stories that enrich its heritage. The municipality also offers several tourist attractions such as the recently renovated railway station, the municipal theater, the public market, the Igreja da Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Pilar, the Church of São Benedito, Pico Paraná (highest place in the southern region with its 1962m), the Ponta da Pita beach, the Historic Port of Barão de Teffé, the Parigot de Souza hydroelectric power plant and much more.
