Not a lot if written about the Chaturthamsa, but it is a very important varga or divisional chart. It reveals where we get our fortune. This divisional chart shows our portion or our share that is allotted to us through our karma. Certain planets and house cusps in this varga are of key importance.

This chart does not show loss. If a planet or house cusp is ill-disposed, then you do not get fortune with those indications but you do not lose because of them.

How to Calculate
Each Sign is divided into four sections of 7.5 degrees each. If a planet or house cusp falls within the first section, it remains in the same Sign as it occupies in the Birth Chart. If a planet or house cusp occupies the second section (7.5 to 15 degrees) then the planet goes to the fourth Sign from the Sign it occupies in the Birth Chart. If the planet or house cusp occupies the third section, (15 to 22.5 degrees) then it goes to the seventh Sign from the Sign it occupies in the Birth Chart. If a planet or house cusp occupies the fourth section (22.5 to 30 degrees) then it goes to the tenth Sign from the Sign it occupies in the Birth Chart. (Planet or House Cusp).
