Perched in Walnut Hills and surrounded by modern buildings, the Harriet Beecher Stowe House hides in plain sight. The author of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” the anti-slavery novel that some historians say laid the groundwork for the Civil War, lived in the Gilbert Avenue house for nearly two decades.
