Murder of Wild Bill Hickok - TRIAL OF JACK MCCALL
TRIAL OF JACK MCCALL
The Trial of Jack McCall is based on the impromptu trial which actually took place in the mining camp of Deadwood after “Crooked Nose” Jack McCall murdered James Butler "Wild Bill” Hickok. Wild Bill was playing poker in Nuttal and Mann’s Saloon No. 10 on August 2, 1876, and was shot in the back of the head while holding Aces and Eights, forever known as the "Dead Man’s Hand."
The play follows the Shooting of Wild Bill and capture of Crooked Nose Jack in front of the Saloon No. 10. This family-friendly show utilizes members of the audience to participate in the performance serving as extras in the Trial. This show is one of the longest running stage plays in the nation having been performed in Deadwood since the mid-1920s.
