Should You Be Applying Sunscreen on Your Dog?

Dogs have plenty of fur to protect them from the elements. So that means they don't need sunscreen, right? Wrong! According to the American Kennel Club, dogs
can get sunburned and develop skin cancer
from sun exposure. Dogs with thin or white fur have an increased risk of sunburn than those with dark, thick fur. Hairless breeds, like the Chinese Crested and Mexican hairless dog, are even more vulnerable. Their snouts, belly and ears require extra attention. Never use human sunscreen on dogs. Opt for a brand specifically formulated for dogs.
