Memorial Day 2021 (Luke 14)

Memorial Day is a day to remember, specifically all the soldiers who gave their lives in battle for this Nation. Praise God for people who are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for America and her people. Today we talk about the parable that Jesus tells about the great banquet in Luke chapter 14. An invitation went out to various guest of the Master but when it was time to actually come to the banquet, those guest all had excuses as to why they couldn’t make it. They were all too blessed to remember the commitment they had made to the Master of the banquet. In turn, the invitation went out to anyone who would come and eat. This parable ties into Memorial Day in that so many have sacrificed to make this America a God fearing and God blessed Nation where people are free to worship God openly and without persecution or hesitation, and yet American’s have forgotten their past and similarly forgotten God. By doing so, they dishonor all those who sacrificed their lives for this Nation, as well as dishonoring God who gave in Son Jesus so that we could have freedom for sin, shame, and wrath. Like those guest who wouldn’t accept the invitation from the Master to come to His banquet and in the end would not “get even the smallest taste of my banquet.” (Luke14:24), so those who refuse Jesus’ invitation will also miss out on even the smallest amount of His Salvation, and instead receive the fullness of God’s wrath (Rev. 14:9-11). Please accept in invitation before it’s too late!
