ENGLISH

HAIL holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen.

  • Nothing like Latin Gregorian chant! I hope to see the Chant of the Mystics on here. Sadly, they are still on Youtube.

  • It would be good to mention "Simple Tone" in the description, as this tune is described in the Libor Brevior, pp.597-598. Nice that the Rumble Search screen shot shows lyrics, which is distinctive and attractive. Nice choice of art. It would honor Our Lord and Lady no less to mention dates, location, and name of sculpture and sculptor. For the standard daily Rosary, Salve Regina is the first closing prayer, after the day's core 5 decades. I am learning to sing this version within my Rosaries, although the other popular (here unnamed) tone on pp. 596-597 is also very nice. Salve Regina is also the seasonal Marian compline antiphon from First Vespers of Trinity Sunday to Advent.
