Vultures are large birds found exclusively on the American continent. In Brazil, it is possible to find five species of these animals: black-headed vulture (Coragyps atratus), red-headed vulture (Cathartes aura), yellow-headed vulture (Cathartes burrovianus), king vulture (Sarcoramphus papa) and bush vulture (Cathartes melambrotus).

Vultures are birds of the Cathartidae family, the same family as the condors. These animals are known mainly for their eating habits, generally based on the ingestion of decaying meat.

Vultures are birds that have a well-developed sense of smell and vision
and stand out for their role in cleaning the environment, as they ensure the elimination of animal carcasses, thus reducing the risk of diseases from these decomposing bodies.
