Simple solution just using a cloth hanger

Cats have some loose skin on the back of their neck called a scruff, mother cats carry them like this by gently holding it with their jaw, they usually freeze up so their mother could easily carry them. But you should not hold an adult cat with just their scruff since their body weight is too high and it makes them uncomfortable, also don't grab them by the scruff if the cat isn't friendly to you, since sometimes dogs and cats grab each other by the scruff to dominate each other.
