The jacu is a wild bird also known as jacuaçu and Penélope obscura. It belongs to the kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class of birds, order Galliformes, scientific name Penelope obscura. It is a distant relative of the peacock (originally from Asia) and very close to the Jacutinga (Aburria jacutinga), however the Jacu is much less lush than the Asian cousin.
