Can A Cat Beat a Dog In A Fight?

Rumble / Dogs & Puppies — Depends on the dog, the cat and the situation. Here is one - My cat Tip, a ten pound domestic shorthair, was walking the quarter mile with me to get our mail. A stray dog, a Husky type mutt, was following and creeping closer. Tip dropped back from my side, turned and gave that dog a very clear warning. That dog didn't care about my cat, it had eyes on me. I am in no way afraid of dogs and was only worried that my sweet little Tip might get hurt. Until that dog got too close for Tip's comfort. I'd never seen him flip into protection mode before and what he did next shocked and also made me very proud of Tip. He stepped to the dog calmly and slowly, as it lowered it's head toward my cat Tip slapped his paw, fish hook claws out, across that dogs eyes. One of those claws hook set in the dog's left eye and pulled it from the socket. Fight over. Tip never gave the dog an oppurtunity to do harm me and watching him I know he wasn't afraid, he was pissed off that another animal was too close to me. He is my brave, strong, fearless boy. I got animal control to come get the wounded stray and later learned the eye could not be saved. Tip doesn't play. That was not the only time Tip has gone after a dog that had come too close. It seems his method of sliding close slowly and always going straight for the eyes works very well. Perhaps his doggie blinding is my fault as when I take him out for walks I do not put him on a leash, then again he heels when I tell him to, walking beside me just like a dog and way out where I live there is no leash law. So if you'd want your dog, pitbull or toy poodle, to come too close while Tip is protecting me, be prepared for a one eyed or completly blind dog. So who would win, cat or dog? I'd put money on my Tip every time, he knows how to stike at the juicest target where he can inflict serious wounds with one swipe of his claws. Those poor eyeless dogs should have known better than to tangle with my Tip.

Cats rule, dogs drool.
