Psalm 03 - David's prayer.

A psalm from David when he had to flee his son Absalom.

1 O LORD, how many my oppressors are increasing, so many who rebel against me!

2 Many say about me, "God will never help you!"

3 But you, O LORD, are the shield that protects me, my glory and the one that lifts my head.

4 In a loud voice I cry out to the LORD, and he answers me from his sacred mountain.

5 I lie down and soon fall asleep. I awake again, for it is the Lord who sustains me.

6 I do not fear the thousands of enemies that surround me on all sides.

7 Rise up on my behalf, O LORD! Save me, my God! Break the jaws of all my enemies, and break the teeth of the wicked.

8 Salvation comes from the Lord! And on those who are yours, your blessing!
