The song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and ranked 69 on Rolling Stone magazine's '500 Greatest Songs of All time' list. Orbison's 1987 duet of the song with Canadian singer k.d. lang won the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
