Hello! This month’s full moon the ‘Blood supermoon’, and it will be the first one since 2019.The full moon in May will coincide with two rare events that will make it appear bigger, brighter, and – in some places – redder. It is one of only two supermoons in 2021, which take place when the moon is at or near its closest point to Earth. The previous one in April, last 27th, not being quite as close, meaning this month’s will be the biggest and brightest of the year. That one was called the pink moon. Nasa has described the next one as the “most super” of this year’s moons, and it is set to appear on 26 May. Across large parts of the Americas and Australasia, a total lunar eclipse will also occur on 26 May, which is what gives it the ‘Blood’ name. Space.com says "This lunar eclipse will appear slightly larger than normal because the moon will reach the closest point in its orbit to Earth, on May 25 at 9:21 p.m. EDT (0121 May 26 GMT), some 14 hours after it is officially at full phase (which happens at 7:13 a.m. EDT, or 1113 GMT). ". 🤠
