How is an influx of illegal immigrants going to lessen our carbon footprint?

The left wants to have America get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. One way to achieve that is to reduce the population, so why are they encouraging open borders and illegal immigration as it will only create more pollution and further damage our planet.
