National Geographic: The Story of Horses
11
The horse is an odd-toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. Horses have evolved over the past 50 million years from a small multi-toed creature, Eohippus, into the large, single-toed animal of today. Humans domesticated horses about 6000 years ago, and we believe their domestication to have been widespread by 3000 BC.
Horses' anatomy enables them to make use of speed to escape predators and they have a well-developed sense of balance and a strong fight-or-flight response.
National Geographic presents a Documentary on Horses! Watch it till the end to know more about this wonderful creature!
