🔹Many of us have our own list of relaxing music.
The one we put on to touch to calm the mind, the one capable of providing us with a wonderful inner balance.

These are moments when we present ourselves with serotonin to relieve stress, to calm physical discomfort, tensions and worries. All thanks to such an economical musical analgesia and always within reach.

It is not a casual thing. The impact that music has on our brain is great. A music marked by a more harmonious or relaxing frequency generates high states of well-being in us.

Nowadays, we have several experiments, research and theoretical works based on or related to experimental research that demonstrate something that in our own way we already intuit: music and, especially, relaxing music has great cognitive, emotional and neurobiological benefits.

The Benefits of Relaxing Music

1. Reduces stress
If we write the expression “relaxing music” in our Internet browser, we will have thousands of results.

However, does this musical style have such a clear impact on our brain that it relieves stress?
The answer is yes.

2. The sounds of nature improve our concentration
The sound of rain hitting the window, a river flowing, the relentless whisper of the ocean crashing against a reef, the hissing of birds, the sound of a whale ...
Nature's sounds have a cathartic power in our body.

It is like a return to our origins, an escape route, a channel that focuses us and frees us at the same time.

A few years ago the BirdLife Focus Natura project did an interesting job in which it demonstrated that relaxing music, such as natural and animal sounds, improves the concentration and performance of children with ADHD (Deficit and Attention Disorder with or without Hyperactivity).

3. Reduces the sensation of pain
Listening to relaxing music during the postoperative period improves the recovery of patients and transforms these moments into moments a little more pleasurable and with less stress.

This data may seem a little surprising, but as explained by an article in Psychology Today, it is known that this type of music reduces the sensation of pain, provides us with endorphins and even strengthens our immune response.

4. Improves our night rest
Lying in bed, turning off the lights and immersing yourself in this other perfect, relaxing and welcoming musical dimension, where harmony and balance live, is wonderful.

Listening to relaxing music with headphones at night promotes rest, helps to get rid of worries and reduces the noise of those exhausting thoughts that anxiety usually feeds.

5. Improves brain function
Our brain loves music. It is known, for example, that the fact of playing a musical instrument since a child enhances brain development and even improves mathematical performance.

Relaxing music is almost like a vitamin for our neurons, makes us plunge into a mental state conducive to improving our reasoning and enhancing space-time skills.

At the same time, it improves the interconnection between our hemispheres, favoring faster communication between our neurons.

6. More serotonin and endorphins
If there is a type of hormone that we really like, it is endorphins and serotonin. They also act as neurotransmitters and these biological compounds are capable of awakening our well-being, our joy and the vital impulse.

So, while each of us has our own musical taste and sometimes prefers much more intense, energetic and motivating music, we cannot neglect the benefits that relaxing music provides to the brain.

7. Helps meditate
So, let's experiment, let's enjoy the magic of this type of music and we will perceive a greater inner calm, easier to manage stress and a better ability to focus attention in our day to day. Do we need any more excuses to start listening to relaxing music?
