The Kingdom of Sikkim (Sikkimese: འབྲས་ལྗོངས། Drenjong) was a hereditary monarchy from 1642 to 16 May 1975 in the Eastern Himalayas. It was ruled by Chogyals of the Namgyal dynasty.
Sikkim became an Indian state in 1975.

"Jahan Bagcha Teesta Rangeet" was presented to the Sikkimese king (Chogyal), on the occasion of the coronation anniversary celebrations in 1970.
The song became popular amongst the Sikkimese population. Though this is not the National Anthem of Sikkim, the song may be termed the "Heart Anthem of the Sikkimese".
The lyrics were written by Nepali Sanu Lama and the music was by Dushyant Lama.
