TOASTING CORN FLOUR IN THE ROÇA - CHICO ABEHA

In this little piece of paradise, hidden in the mountains, the owners still insist on keeping some old-fashioned things, such as sweets, brown sugar, molasses, stone mill meal, homemade bread and the delicious roasted coffee on the wood stove and pilado in a old wooden mortar.

Engenho Velho has a mill, monjolo, furnace, pot stove and an old mill where cane is crushed for rapadura. The place is open for visitation every day of the week, but the ideal is to schedule a visit on a day when there is activity or to combine a delicious caipira coffee with cakes, donuts, jams and cheese from Minas Gerais made there.
