In order to make t tracks in the second way you will need:
1) Straight Cut Router Bits 1/4-Inch (6.35 mm) Shank with Cutting Diameter 5/16" (8 mm)

1) 1/4-Inch (6.35 mm) Shank T-Slot Cutter Router Bits For 1/2 Inch(13 mm) Hex Bolt
