Covid-19 India: True Numbers of Infections and IFR update May 2021 🇮🇳

38

This bar chart race compares confirmed cases in India versus the average of two epidemiological models estimating the true numbers. Cumulative cases, estimated percentage of population infected, daily cases and level of lockdowns, CFR (case fatality rate) and the resulting IFR (infection fatality rate) for the estimate. The date range is from 29th February 2020 until May 3rd 2021.

Please note that the number of deaths is likely higher than reported, especially the past month. CFR and IFR is affected by this. When compared to IFR in other countries (0,2-0,5) the number of deaths may already have exceeded 1 million in India. Further studies is encouraged to confirm the real number of deaths.
