The West Africa is affected, since March 2014, with the most serious outbreak of Ebola ever observed. On 7 November 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) counted 5,160 deaths per 14,098 cases in 8 countries. French research teams are helping to address this epidemic, under the coordination of the National Alliance for Life Sciences and Health (Aviesan). The IRD researchers and their partners in the South are involved in several research programs in the field of diagnostics, monitoring, convalescent, or the humanities and social sciences.
