Step by step instructions on how to properly flush a heater

He's wanted to flush the heater core for awhile but never got around to it. Well, a few days ago, the forecast called for the temperature to be close to 60, so he figured it was the perfect opportunity.

The idea behind flushing a heater core is that "junk" builds up in the cooling system when the antifreeze isn't drained regularly, and it can lodge itself in the small cooling channels inside the heater core. By forcing water backwards through the heater core, it will sometimes break that "junk" free and allow the hot antifreeze to flow through better, which is how the care makes heat inside the cabin.

He wasn't sure if it would work, but it did! It's not hot like in a new car, but it's very warm, which keeps the passengers (his parents) happy, and it helps the window defrost quickly in our cold, New England winters.
