Times Square is the name of the area formed at the confluence and intersection of two major avenues in New York City, United States; it can be defined as a large square or square, composed of several intersections and corners.

The area is located at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, between 42nd Street and 47th Street, in midtown Manhattan. It is a commercial area, where all buildings are required to install illuminated signs for advertising purposes.

It is noteworthy that Times Square is not a street or avenue, since there is no traffic registered and named as such in the Official Guide to Streets and Addresses of New York City;
nor can it be treated as a simple corner, since the area mapped by the city hall officially included 12 intersections of public roads, having recently been modified to meet the large flow of tourists and passers-by, with the definition of areas exclusively for pedestrians
