Cold season is upon us, and cough drops are about to become a staple item in my house once again. Store bought cough drops are great, but when I realized that I could make my own… game changer! There's something extra special about homemade remedies, and it's amazing what can be done with just a few easy to find ingredients. You can make all kinds of soothing and refreshing flavors by combining different teas like peppermint, cinnamon, ginger and chamomile. Form them in a cute silicon mold, and voila - homemade cough drops, made with love!

Ingredients:

- 1 tablespoon (loose or from a teabag) peppermint tea leaves
- 1 tablespoon (loose or from a teabag) chamomile tea
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ginger
- ¾ cup boiling water
- ¾ cup honey
- Cornstarch for dusting
- Optional: essential oils such as peppermint or thieves (for boosting the immune system)

Directions:

Steep peppermint, chamomile, cinnamon, and ginger in boiling water for 10 minutes or more. Strain off water, and pour into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until mixture begins to boil. Clip candy thermometer to the side of your pan and continue boiling until mixture reaches 300 degrees. Watch carefully, it is really easy to burn when it gets this hot! Let mixture cool for 5-10 minutes, until it starts to get syrupy. At this point you can add a few drops of healing/antibacterial essential oils (optional). Drop by small spoonfuls onto parchment paper or put in a silicon mold, then let cool. Dust with cornstarch to absorb condensation and prevent them from sticking together in storage. Store in an airtight container
