Iraq: Kirkuk oil field attacked by militants stoking fears of IS resurgence

Security forces were attacked before two fires broke out at Bai Hassan oil field, northwest Kirkuk on Wednesday.
According to local reports, one security officer was killed, whilst two others were injured.
The Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) reportedly released a statement on Telegram saying they were the perpetrators of the attack before setting off two oil wells on fire.
The group has been active in the region recently, according to state media.
Well, number 177 has been extinguished by firefighters who arrived at the scene later. Well, number 183 is reportedly still being brought under control. Oil production in the region has been halted in the meantime.
