Bucanero Texas Star Maduro Churchill Cigar Review
This 7x50 box pressed stick features a dark brown firmly packed wrapper with a soft paper bag texture, minimal veins, tight invisible seams, large double cap and a pepper and hay aroma. First light reveals a blast of charred oak barrel with a slight bitter note on the draw that tapers to a slight sweetness on the short clean finish. Draw is perfect and the medium bodied smoke is plentiful. The first third shifts to a medium-full body of dark cherry and oak cask flavors with a long smooth finish and touch of pepper on the tail. Burn is slow although does need double puffs for full output. The 1/2 way point comes at 35 minutes showing a shift from cheery to soft vanilla and the oak to a deep earthiness. The pepper comes up a bit but just on the finish. Ending at 50 minutes where it got hot and squishy for me, the last third went to a big caramel and earth combo.
