HUMBLE SERVANTHOOD

Kung papansinin po natin, noong si Hesus po ay bumaba sa lupa hindi lamang po yung acts of showing miracles ang focus ng ministry Niya kundi servanthood.
Servanthood – is a process of transitioning into Christ’s likeness.
- requirement ito sa pagsunod sa pagiging isang kristiyano

Noong panahon po na si Hesus ay bumaba sa lupa, wala pang iba’t-ibang klase ng sapatos.
Marumi sa paa kapag maglalakbay ka, just imagine maalikabok, maputik.
Tradisyon: trabaho ng mga alipin na linisin ang paa ng mga bisita
kung kayo po ang tatanungin? Kung kakailanganin ng maghuhugas ng paa, magvo-volunteer ka ba?

Washing feet was servant’s work, and only the lowliest of servants will be made to do it.
John 13:2-5
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
- Jesus got on His knees and washed the feet of His disciples
- Jesus was their teacher and master. They followed Him and left everything for Him.
Anong mararamdaman mo if ang prinsipal/president hugasan ang paa mo?
Jesus is way far from a principal or president. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
And yet, ginawa po Niya ito. No great miracle was shown here, ngunit nakakamangha for he did this as a great example of humbleness and servanthood.

FOR WHAT REASON?
v.13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
- What He was attempting to instill in His disciples was the attitude of a servant:
- HUMILITY and A WILLINGNESS TO PUT OTHERS AHEAD OF ONESELF

Phil 2:5
5 Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility],
How does Jesus think of Himself? (Phil 2:6-8)
- He gave up His divine privileges and he took the humble position of a slave.
