This is really exciting.... Start with a seven - eight week old puppy. Screening and testing, more screening and test, you then have a pick. I then start retrieving games. I start with a bumper, then wing, then dead birds. During all the play sessions introduce loud noises. As the puppy matures you introduce obedience. I then start getting stricter on the retrieves. Long retrieves, short retrieves and medium retrieves. Work on steady and sitting upon delivery. Then introduce live birds in a controlled environment, wounded birds, birds with clipped wings. Retrieve of the wounded and clipped wing birds with gun fire from a distance, closer and closer. Working to today.
First live bird gunned in the field with a full retrieve. Talk about exciting !!!!

The gundog is started, but just started. Tons more training to come. You just molded and trained the best upland partner you could ever imagine.
