Nestled along the Little River in the Smoky Mountains national park you will find this abandoned resort called the Appalachian Club that dates back to the days before the national park was formed and when Elkmont was a little railroad town filled with lumber industry. The Appalachian Club was a get-away location for the affluent people in Knoxville. Although these buildings are in bad shape you can still tell that these were some fine rustic cabins. When I visited them I wondered why they were abandoned. They would have been good homes.
