As Jennie Lee Riddle, the writer of Revelation Song puts it, this song was a “need for a sight of Jesus…something so much bigger than ourselves.” Worship can get somewhat stale at times. It can fall into ruts and tired patterns. During the time Revelation Song came out, there were a lot of songs focused on “me” and “I”….very much self-focused in approaching worship of the Almighty. This is somewhat familiar because worship is in that sort of rut to a certain degree today. And a song like Revelation Song just breaks the mold and points up to something completely outside of ourselves. The scene around the throne, the scene of heavenly worship is a place where one day we will dwell if we are in Christ. It should become a place our hearts desire and our worship is naturally drawn to. “Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain. Holy, holy is He!”
