Bile acids are steroid molecules that homogenize fat, assisting its digestion and absorption, along with fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K). It is antimicrobial and backs to keep the terrain of the small intestine clean. Having enough bile prevents bacteria from the colon from colonizing the small intestine.
