Airline Pilots Manually Wipe Windshield before Flight

Info from Licensor: "We saw these two Southwest pilots open the cockpit windows and balance precariously 25 feet above the concrete while cleaning the plane windshield with what looked like cocktail napkins. First, who knew those windows even opened? Second, is there not a better/safer system for cleaning the windshield of a 737? My Ford does this at the push of a button. Just thought it was funny to see two highly qualified pilots doing menial labor. But, hey, respect!"
