Indonesian sub crew sing ‘farewell’ song in newly released video
'Even though I’m not ready to be missing you, I’m not ready to live without you. I wish all the best for you.'
In a cruel twist of fate, those are the touching lyrics sung by the crew of the now-sunken Indonesian submarine, which went missing off the coast of Bali last week.
The video was released by the Indonesian Navy, and shows the doomed crew singing a farewell song to an outgoing member of the submarine corps.
It was filmed only a few weeks before the vessel sank in the Java Sea while taking part in a training exercise. All 53 crew members died in the accident.
On Sunday, the Indonesian military confirmed it had found parts of the submarine on the sea floor, well below the vessel’s diving range of 200 meters. The cause of the sinking is still not known, and investigations are ongoing.
The song the crew was singing is called ‘Sampai Jumpa’, which, roughly translated, means ‘See You Later’.
