Today we discuss how you can get better seed germination for your garden planted in clay soil. The steps for getting better seed germination in your clay soil are all simple and require little to no cost. I will explain.

The first step is to track the temperature of your soil. Seeds don't germinate well below 60 degrees and prefer soil temperatures of 75 to 80 degrees. Planting seeds before your soil temperature is correct will greatly decrease your seed germination rate in your clay soil.

Once your soil temperature is right, you will plant your seed to a depth of 2.5 times the thickness of the seed. Do NOT cover it back with the clay soil. Instead cover it with sand.
