This here is a groundhog
They're also known as woodchucks land beavers and whistle pigs
Now these marmots clock in at about 16 to 26 inches long and weigh only about five to ten pounds
Ain't it amazing that this little critter can dig out about 700 pounds of dirt while making its burrow
But dig they must and boy they do Almost all over North America
The common groundhog has been spotted as far south as Alabama and as far north as Alaska
But it's not all peace and quiet for the groundhogs its predators include snakes foxes, wolves, and humans
So when you're flipping through all this Groundhog Day hubby
Remember, there's more to this little critter than the story about its status.
