20210425 Bringing Them Back - The Daily Summation

Should the fact that, "you can't bring them back," be a determining factor in a murder or other wrongful death type of trial?

Not only is it not something that should EVER be used on the potential perpetrators' side--as heartless as it may sound--it shouldn't be used by the prosecutor or even the family in determining what should happen.

What SHOULD be used? A careful examination of what appears to have happened, along with equal concern in EVERY PART OF THE PROCESS.

Charges should be based on what happened, the intent of the person or persons charged, and their level of maturity, among other things.

I shouldn't need said, that due process is a paramount concern in such a situation. I'll do so in any case, THERE MUST BE solid due process.

That's true for the two girls who cause the death of the (I believe Pakistani, but regardless) food delivery driver, and it's what SHOULD HAVE (I don't believe it did, but that, just my opinion) in the Derek Chauvin case as well.

All other things said and done, YOU'RE NOT BRINGING THEM BACK.

This is what I talk about in the current edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
